Taiwan-born New Zealand pianist Beth Chen has a performing career spanning from New Zealand to Europe. Reviewed for her "Mature, assured performance of elegance and power" Beth is a laureate of prizes and awards in New Zealand, Australia and Europe for her captivating interpretations. In addition to solo competition prizes, Beth has also won several first prizes at concerto competitions, including the National Concerto Competition New Zealand and North Queensland Concerto Competition Australia. She has appeared as a soloist with New Zealand School of Music Orchestra, Wellington Chamber Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and Neues Telemann Kammerorchester.
Beth's studies took her from Wellington to Europe where she performed extensively while based in Germany and London. Her expressive sense of musicianship established her as one of the most engaging pianists featured in concert series in the UK.
After many years living abroad, Beth returned to Wellington in 2017 where she enjoys exploring chamber music repertoire with fellow musicians from Orchestra Wellington and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. She is a founding member of piano four hands ensemble Duo Enharmonics. In 2022, the Duo toured with Chamber Music New Zealand to centres across the country, and they are hatching plans for the 2024 tour.
